World Cup Betting and NFC!

To raise the interest and make the different games more exciting amongst our employees we have a Wib™ based betting application. Using SIM based menus listing today’s games you can place bet on 1- hometeam, X - Tie or 2- awayteam and paying with your “ivories” which are withdrawn from your account. You can also check your balance and leader board amongst others. It is easy, convenient and fun! Hopefully this service can be available outside SmartTrust for any event of this kind because it would boost betting! Maybe the next version can include “touch-and-bet”, i.e. posters with your favorite team which you tap and subsequently you can place your bet!

The official clarification from Nokia regarding the announcement from Nokia's executive vice president for markets, Mr  Anssi Vanjoki who announced that all new smartphones introduced by the company from 2011 will come with NFC declares that their global Symbian smartphone portfolio will in 2011 begin to include NFC and that it may or may not included country variants.

This is still very positive news! We need Nokia for this to happen although Samsung and LG is picking up now also with SWP enabled handsets. Remember it took about 10 years after introducing the ATM’s before the number of users began to be significant.… Rome was not built in a day!

Hi Jari, I think , we need Apple (and perhaps RIM) to adopt NFC rather than Nokia. Nokia cant move the needle now in my opinion. They have lost the game.
