Synchonized, automated for premium subscriber convenience
Dependency on the mobile phone as our primary social network connection has grown greatly. A lost phone is a major setback. It can take months to retrieve contacts, some are lost forever. With SmartTrust Device Backup, your subscribers are just a click away from being re-connected to their social network saving them the inconvenience and heartache of finding lost contacts as well as protecting your average revenue per user (ARPU).
Phonebook backup
Lost phones pose two main problems for you as a mobile network operator. Firstly, subscriber ARPU drops dramatically. On average, about 90% of ARPU is directly related to the contacts in the subscriber phonebook. Without easy access to someone's phone number, it's hard to take the initiative to make a call. Secondly, theft, loss or phone damage is a switch point at which a subscriber is more receptive to changing operator and even handset vendor. Subscriber churn normally occurs at predictable points in time, like the end of a subscription period and launch of new must-have phones. Creating subscriber stickiness, with for example backup, can help to reduce the likelihood of churn.
SmartTrust Device Backup is a standards based product for device synchronization. Subscriber phonebooks, contacts and other personal data are stored in a central database and can be rapidly restored in the event of loss, theft or phone damage.
Our product is built on OMA DS, the industry standard found in over 1.5 billion handsets worldwide. More than 1,350 unique handset models support OMA DS. Subscribers do not need to download an on-device client. All that is required is a one-click registration and the backup service is set up automatically and the correct configuration settings sent to the handset. The OMA DS standard enables back up of subscriber calendar entries, notes and tasks as well as subscriber phonebook contacts.
Automation is a key advantage of SmartTrust Device Backup. One-click registration via Web, WAP or SMS, and one-click for backup and/or restore. Incremental backups are automated following a pre-defined schedule so subscribers do not need to remember to backup regularly. Automatic distribution of configuration settings during the registration process removes the need to figure out how and where to get the right settings for the backup service.
